Looking after your toys keeps them safe, hygienic and lasting for years. It takes two minutes and it matters — here’s how to do it properly.
Clean before and after every use
Yes, before too — dust and storage residue happen. Use warm water with a dedicated toy cleaner or a mild, unscented soap. Harsh or heavily fragranced soaps can irritate sensitive skin.
Know your material
- 100% silicone, glass, stainless steel: the easiest to clean. Non-motorised versions can often be boiled or washed at high temperature — check the manufacturer’s guidance first.
- Motorised / electronic toys: never submerge unless they’re rated fully waterproof. Wipe down with a damp cloth and toy cleaner instead.
Lube compatibility
Water-based lube is safe with every toy and every material — it’s the failsafe choice. Avoid silicone lube on silicone toys; it can bond with and degrade the surface. Oil-based lubes can damage some materials and latex, so use with care.
Dry and store properly
Let toys air-dry fully before storing. Keep them separate from each other — some materials react when in prolonged contact — ideally in individual pouches, somewhere clean, cool and out of direct sunlight.
Inspect regularly
Before each use, give toys and especially restraints a quick check for wear, tears or damage. Retire anything that’s degrading — a damaged surface can’t be cleaned properly.
